“[A]n outstanding student experience is at the heart of an outstanding university. As a research and teaching intensive university the University of Alberta is well positioned to offer exceptional learning opportunities to all of its undergraduate and graduate students […]” - UofA Academic Plan 2011-2015
Welcome to the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Under the auspices of the Office of the Provost, we are the centrally administered unit mandated to provide educational leadership in support of excellence in teaching and learning to the university community.
Our vision is to be an agent in the transforming of learning experiences at the University of Alberta. To do this:
- CTL inspires reflective teaching practice by showcasing excellent and innovative teaching methods from within our learning community and beyond http://ctl.ualberta.ca/teaching-events;
- CTL enables continuing professional development in teaching through research-informed support services, including the effective integration of technology in teaching http://ctl.ualberta.ca/teaching-support-services;
- CTL rewards teaching excellence, scholarship and innovation through awards and funding programs http://www.ctl.ualberta.ca/awards-funding.
Transformation connotes ‘change’ and it is through this reinforcing feedback process of inspiring, enabling and rewarding that change, not only at the instructor level but also ultimately institutional change, happens every day.
I invite you to visit our staff page http://ctl.ualberta.ca/about-ctl/staff to meet the academic and professional leadership delivering on CTL’s mandate and I encourage you to be inspired to become part of the transformation of learning in the 21st century.
