StudyMate Author
StudyMate is an authoring tool that lets you create 10 Flash-based activities and games using three simple templates. The Flash activities are usable with any web server or can be published directly to eClass or any other LMS.

Installing StudyMate

The University of Alberta has obtained a campus-wide licence for StudyMate. You must download the StudyMate installation file from this website and activate it using the password obtained from eLearning. Files downloaded elsewhere will not be compatible with the U of A Activation Password.

  1. Download the StudyMate installation program.
  2. Obtain the Activation Password by contacting respondus@ualberta.ca.
  3. The file you download is named "StudyMateCampus2.exe". Locate the file on your computer and double-click it to start the installation program. During the installation process you will be prompted to enter the name of the institution, the local support contact, and the installation password. This information must be entered EXACTLY as provided in Step #2.
  4. We recommend that you accept the default settings for where the program will be installed. It is important to note that you are not able to download the software directly from the StudyMate web site, nor are you able to use the password provided to activate a copy previously downloaded from their site.

NOTE: Our licence DOES permit you to install a copy of the StudyMate software on a home computer. However, please note that you are not permitted to provide the StudyMate software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with our institution. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with StudyMate and is also illegal. To enable us to meet licensing conditions, we require that anyone wishing to install StudyMate contact us first so that we can verify their affiliation.
