ePortfolio Pilot Project

The Centre for Teaching and Learning is busy undertaking an exploratory pilot study using ePortfolios. Undergraduate students and a handful of instructors from several faculties have been given the tools to create and populate their very own ePortfolio. This pilot project is projected to conclude in 2011.

ePortfolios have been a part of the academic landscape for the past decade but, for a number of reasons, enjoyed only limited adoption. With the advent of Web 2.0 technologies that can enhance the ePortfolio experience however, a number of sources report that ePortfolios are experiencing a renaissance.

A growing body of research is available to inform the University of Alberta's use of ePortfolios. Indeed, just as each student is unique, each university is unique — one size cannot and will not fit all.

This website is intended to gather both internal research findings and external resources together under one umbrella. As this ePortfolio Pilot Project grows and matures, this webpage will also be used to showcase illustrative examples of ePortfolios that were found to support the University of Alberta's unique teaching and learning contexts and vision.
